Abstract
The subject of the research was to obtain antibacterial and antifungal fibres and polyamide products (PA). This aim was realized through a two-stage modification of polyamide products that was based on implementing into a macroparticle into PA carboxylic groups using the method of grafting vinyl monomers, which was followed by joining an appropriate drug to fibres modified in this way.
The research included the following: selection of grafting reaction
parametres (stage 1) and selecting the degree of grafting of poly(acrylic acid) or poly(methacrylic acid) on polyamide fibres and the degree of imbuing appropriate biocide into preliminarily grafted products (stage 2 of modification). There were also in vivo studies carried through together with microbiological in vitro evaluation of antibacterial and antifungal properties of the modified
fibres and polyamide products to be used in medicine.
