DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

DOI has been functioning for so many years, that there is no need to present its advantages. It is used by all recognized and prestigious scientific publications. It is connected with better visibility and availability of the document on the Internet, which results in higher quotation and more effective indexing.

DOI is an identifier assigned only to one electronic document. Until now, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland treated this ID as an ISSN or ISBN number when evaluating the publication. It was enough even for the author to present the DOI number of the publication, so that it would be included in his scientific achievements - even if it has not been physically released yet.

The identifier itself consists of two parts: a prefix assigned to the publisher and a suffix slash, transmitted by the publisher, which refers to a specific document (specific title, volume, number and page). Using the search engine at www.dx.doi.org, you can identify the document that you have been given DOI. After pasting the identifier characters in the search box, you will be redirected to a page with a bibliographic description or the full text of a specific publication. DOI can also be attributed to articles that were issued earlier to give them a second youth by placing their digital version on the web.
